She is the fastest woman in the world to run a 100m. Do you do the summer learning journey?

Cats VS Cucumbers

Have you ever seen a video of a cat that is eating and then there is a cucumber behind it? Well if you have, you will know what comes next the cats jump and scatter when they see a cucumber. Hi, I’m Lucas and I’m going to teach you why cats are scared of cucumbers and why it's not good to scare them with a cucumber.

The only way to scare a cat with a cucumber is putting the cucumber behind the cat when they're not looking. Then when the cat turns around Its first reaction is to jump, this is because they think it is a snake. Due to cucumbers' curved shape and green colour. Do you want that for your cat? Or do you want a peaceful life for your cat and it not thinking their a snake slithering loose in the house.

If you scare your cat with a cucumber it causes stress on the cat and it can cause mental health issues. So if you care about your cat you will not scare it with a cucumber. Also when it sees something that has snuck up on it it will jump and could possibly break and leg or a paw.

How would you feel if you thought there was a snake slithering loose in your house, would you feel scared and bothered, I would think so. Now pretend you are a cat and you think you've just seen a snake, your smaller than a human so the venom of a snake bite will travel quicker through your veins, your dumber than a human so you will not think to go outside and you don't have a phone so you can’t call animal patrol. Now how would that feel (Slowly)? I think I would feel pretty vulnerable.

Now you know why cats are scared of cucumbers and why it’s not good to scare them with it. Are you going to scare your cat with a cucumber, if you are your a pretty cruel human being? Well, I hope this speech teaches you to think twice about scaring your cat with a cucumber, or trying to get your friends to scare their cat. Thank you for listening.
This is my speech about why you should not scare cats with cucumbers. If my speech is good enough I will do it in front of my hub then if I win that I read it in the Belfast club in public. Do you agree with my speech?

Why Kids Should not get paid for good grades at primary school!

Yay top grades and everything that's $500 this year. Aww bottom grades in most things, so I only got $25. What? That kid got $500! Hi, I'm Lucas and I'm going to persuade you why kids should not get paid for getting good grades.

My first reason is that people will get jealous of other people. This is because some people would be getting heaps of money and then buying cool stuff with the money. Then other kids that don't get good grades get jealous.

My second reason who is going to pay the students, the teachers? I don’t think so, they don’t get enough as it is. But if it was the principal we would not have all the fun school events like winter sports and swimming. Even if it was the city council our city would turn poor. Also, the city council would not be able to improve our city.

If kids got paid for getting good grades it would make New Zealand poor, make kids ungrateful. It would also make the city look like a pigsty and the drinking water would not be clean.

These are my reasons why students should not get paid for good grades at primary school.  Do you agree?

Writing this term we have been focusing on persuasive writing, this is my persuasive piece of writing about why children at Primary School should not get paid for getting good grades. I would appreciate some feedback. Do you agree?

Imagine sitting in a boiling classroom with pants and a long t-Shirt on then you have to go outside in the red hot sun. Or imagine you sitting in your freezing cold classroom in your shorts and a T-shirt and then having to go outside in the cold weather. Hi, I’m Lucas and I’m going to persuade you into not having to wear school uniform.

My first reason is because of the temperature when you're in summer you can get really hot while you are trying to learn and you get distracted. Or sometimes you keep going to get drinks because you're so hot and you get less learning time. When it is winter time it isn't as bad but you still get really cold.

A US-specific study found that students perform better academically, but their behavior does not improve either way with or without a uniform on. But another study said that there was no academically improvement and no change in behavior. So guess you just have to ask the students.

“I asked 45 students at my school the same question. If you had a choice would you wear a uniform or not wear a uniform”. 13 of them said they would rather wear a uniform and 32 of them said they would rather wear mufti.

Do you really want to wear school uniform all the time I know I don’t, because of the boiling heat and the freezing cold, plus it can improve my academic work. Did you know mufti improves a student's attendance?

For writing, we had to write a persuasive piece of writing. I did mine on why we shouldn't have to wear school uniform at school, I think I did pretty well. I would appreciate some feedback.

What are you Thankful for?

For blogging, we had to make a photo collage about what we were thankful for. I did New Zealand because I live in new New Zealand which is a safe environment for me to grow up in. I did Richie McCaw because he helped us win the Rugby World Cup and because he is one of the best rugby players of all time. I did my family because they care for me. I did sports because it's fun. I did food and drinks because you need them to be alive. I did TV because it keeps me occupied when I'm bored. What are you thankful for, name 3 things.
